Preparation for Gastroscopy

During the gastroscopy, it is MOST IMPORTANT that the stomach be empty.

  • Do not eat or drink anything past midnight prior to your gastroscopy.
  • Do not eat or drink anything after the exam until sensation returns to the back of your throat. This may take 2-4 hours.

If you have had an upper GI x-ray, bring it with you when you report for your gastroscopy.

Due to the IV sedation for your comfort during the gastroscopy, you must bring someone with you to drive you home following the procedure. Please see that someone is available to speak with the doctor at the conclusion of the procedure for further instructions.

You will need to call your insurance information to (281) 440-2868.

If you should have any further questions, please call of our office.

Notice: If you are taking daily medications, you may take your medications with a small amount of water the day of your scheduled procedure.
